Resolution 011/2013-CEP – International Student Mobility
Student requirements:
- Student must be enrolled in a Higher Education Institution with a valid agreement with UEM.
- Student must have sufficient knowledge of Portuguese language in order to participate in activities of their study plan and classes taught in Portuguese.
1st Step - Nomination:
- To be a candidate to mobility at UEM, student must be selected in their home university.
- The International Cooperation Office at their original university must communicate the candidate’s interest, by sending their full name to Este endereço de email está sendo protegido de spambots. Você precisa do JavaScript ativado para vê-lo. and they must request the completion of the Registration Form by the student available at the ECI/UEM website.
- Candidate must complete the Registration Form and wait for ECI/UEM’s guidance, which will be send in the email address used in the form.
- The student must attach in the form:
- permission from the competent division in the home institution (usually from the course’s department);
- graduate course transcript, considering disciplines attended to the moment, with average grade;
- national identity document or copy of identification page in the passport.
- After that, the request will be assessed by ECI/UEM.
2nd Step - Registration:

- Birth or marriage certificate;
- Copy of identification page in the passport, where registration and temporary visa from embassies or Brazilian consular partitions is visible;
- Study plan, with approval from coordinators from both universities*
- Proof of health and life insurance, valid for all mobility period.
*Study plan must be made by the student after contact with the course coordinator from UEM.
3rd Step - Enrollment:
International students can implement their enrollment after receiving the acceptance letter send from ECI/UEM to their home university.
To request enrollment at UEM and to obtain the Academic Registration Number (RA), student must show:
- Brazilian National Insurance Number (CPF);
- National Migration Registry (RNM) or request protocol.

4th Step - After Arrival in Brazil:
Student must schedule a visit to the International Cooperation Office from UEM in order to be welcomed and receive guidance.

Citizens from other countries who wish to get a visa to travel to Brazil must get in touch with the Brazilian Consular Office in their home countries to get more information about this request. We remind you that, in order to obtain a National Migration Registry (RNM) within the Federal Police, mandatory to obtain an Academic Registration Number (RA), it is necessary a visa number. Therefore, even for countries which don’t demand a visa, for activities inside UEM it must be obtained.
ASSISTANCE FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
- Welcoming from a local student tutor;
- Fortnightly meetings with welcoming team and international students;
- Portuguese for foreigners course;
- 3 daily meals in the University Restaurant, from Monday to Friday;
- Practice of physical, sport and athletics activities;
- Visits to cultural events.
