Created in 1984, the Applied Psychology Unit (Unidade de Psicologia Aplicada – UPA) is a school-clinic maintained by the Department of Psychology (Departamento de Psicologia – DTP). The unit provides more than 5,000 treatments a year, comprising educational, occupational and health contexts. These services are offered to individuals, groups, families, and corporations in many different formats: consultation with psychologists on duty, guidance sessions for parents and professionals, training, institutional diagnosis, psychotherapy sessions, among others. Psychology undergraduates act in the unit with the multidisciplinary support of psychologists, social workers and phonoaudiologists.
