The State University of Maringá (Universidade Estadual de Maringá – UEM) continually offers outreach courses that aim to provide short period education in various fields of knowledge, teaching more than seven thousand students per year.
Considering the development of outreach projects, permanent and temporary, UEM provides services to about 900 thousand people annually. The activities comprehend seven subject areas: Communication, Culture, Human Rights and Justice, Education, Environment, Technology, Production and Work.
The institutionalized projects are maintained due to scholarships intended for academic outreach. There are almost 200 scholarships that benefit undergraduate students.
Additionally, UEM offers a variety of options to those who look for the University for services it provides. More than 100 projects are offered, such as the development of pharmaceutical products; the evaluation of hydroelectric operations; and analyses of water and effluent, food, milk quality and raw materials intended for animal nutrition, chemical and physical properties of the soil and fuel. A combination of more than 400 laboratories contributes to the maintenance of these services.
