UEM TV launches a series of interviews with faculty engaged in internationalization

The first international interviewee is Miriam Hernández, from Spain, and Mayckel Barreto, professor at UEM.

UEM TV is launching a new series of interviews with professors from 16 countries who are participating in the Internationalization at Home (Internacionalização em Casa - IeC) program at the State University of Maringá (Universidade Estadual de Maringá - UEM). The initiative is part of the actions of UEM's International Cooperation Office (Escritório de Cooperação Internacional - ECI), which aims to strengthen academic exchange and scientific production with institutions abroad.

Presented by journalist Marilayde Costa, the series will showcase the experiences of professors from various countries who, throughout 2025, will visit UEM to develop teaching, research, and outreach activities in partnership with the university’s departments.

The first interview in the series is already online and features guest Miriam Araujo Hernández, a professor at the University of Huelva, Spain. The nursing professor spent 30 days at UEM through the IeC program, conducting courses, lectures, and workshops for undergraduate and graduate nursing faculty and students, with topics focused on gender, comprehensive health, and multiculturalism.

The interview also features Professor Mayckel Barreto, from the Nursing Department at UEM, who is responsible for the Mobility division at the ECI. He comments on the strategic importance of internationalization for the academic and scientific training of the university community.

The video is available on UEM TV’s YouTube channel. Each edition will feature a new visiting professor, sharing their knowledge and impressions of the university, scientific research, and Brazil.
