Master’s Program and Doctoral Program
The Genetics and Breeding Graduate Program (Programa de Pós-Graduação em Genética e Melhoramento - PGM) is the only Program in Genetics and Breeding in the Southern Region of Brazil. It has been qualified as an Excellence Program by Capes, with Score 5, since its first triennial evaluation (2004-06). It has a dedicated and competent faculty, with 82% of its members being CNPq Research Productivity Scholars. Lasting approximately 24 months for the master's level and 36 months for the doctorate, it is intended for recent graduates, researchers and professors graduated in Agronomy, Biological Sciences, Animal Science and related areas. The Program receives financial support, including scholarships from the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (Capes), the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq), Araucária Foundation, Finep and other public and private companies.
